Brentwood’s local junior racquetball champion, 15-year-old Dane Elkins, will be competing in the World Championships in Columbia, representing Team USA in October 2014.

To help fund his trip, Veggie Grill in Santa Monica will donate 50 percent of each order on Sunday, Aug. 24 when a customer mentions “Dane Elkins US Team” before ordering between 11 am and 10 pm.

Dane is a member of Ektelon’s pro-junior indoor racquetball development team.

At the 2014 Wilson Indoor Racquetball Junior Olympics, he won the gold medal in Boys Doubles with partner Ricardo Diaz. He also won the gold medal for Mixed Doubles with partner Atossa Rejaei.

This month Dane is attending the USOC Olympic Training Camp as part of the USA National Racquetball Team.

Highly sought after celebrity magician, Paul Fig Fegen from the show “America’s Got Talent,” will perform his psychic magic card tricks that amaze and dazzle at 5 pm.

The Elkins family said they wanted to say a big thank you to Veggie Grill Marketing Manager Jessica Smith and Santa Monica General Manager Alex Gama for organizing this generous fundraiser.

It is a vegan fundraiser and Dane is the older brother of Jaden who had the vegan Bar Mitzvah at Veggie Grill in March. Veggie Grill is located at 2025 Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica.
