National Grilled Cheese Day is today, April 7. However, BLVD 16 Restaurant and Lounge inside Westwood’s Hotel Palomar decided to honor the dairy product for an entire week.
Starting today and through April 13, the chefs at BLVD 16 will be preparing a new dish daily in the name of National Grilled Cheese Day.
When WestsideToday.com dropped by BLVD 16 for lunch at about noon, sous chef J.C. Romero prepared today’s sandwich special: roasted filet mignon and pickled jalapeno on oozing Brie cheese.
Romero also served us with Friday’s special sandwich: roasted mushroom and carmelized onion served with truffle pecorino.
Both sandwiches has a balance of flavorful ingredients, rich textures, and a healthy dose of oozing cheese, be it the Brie or the truffle pecorino. If you order one or both, just be sure to hold the sandwich with two hands.
Other sandwich specials served throughout the week include:
– Tuesday: ham, swiss, béchamel, and sunny side up egg served with Croque Madame;
– Wednesday: smoked pork loin, argulo pesto, and roasted tomato on sage derby cheese;
– Thursday: fresh oregano and American cheese served with tomato soup;
– Saturday: shredded chicken with fresh basil and roasted tomato served on mozzarella;
– Sunday: a mixture of fig paste, sliced apples, and watercress served with Brie and Gorgonzola cheeses.
In addition to the daily specials, BLVD 16 diners can also order the restaurant’s popular short rib grilled cheese on local Röckenwagner Bakery sourdough with jack cheese and red onion jam.
Located in the lobby of Hotel Palomar, BLVD 16 is at 10740 Wilshire Boulevard in Westwood. Reservations can be made via Open Table.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is available everyday at varying hours; be sure to check out the BLVD 16 website for exact hours. The bar and lounge is open from 2 p.m. to 12 midnight daily. Valet parking is available.
BLVD 16’s chef in Westwood is Richard Hodge.
