One of the newest residents of the Brentwood community is Yogurtland, which opened its doors to the public on March 26th on San Vicente Boulevard in the space vacated by Cold Stone Creamery.
Yogurtland’s mission statement is “to bring people together for the most flavorful, natural, and fun frozen yogurt experience while promoting a healthy lifestyle.â€
And it certainly is fun. Their unique self serve concept means that you get to work the levers of the frozen yogurt machines, swirling in as much or as little as you like into the 16 oz or 24 oz cups (you pay by the ounce) and adding your favorite toppings from a comprehensive, yet manageable, array of mouth-watering choices.
The flavors include exotic fare like Madagascar Vanilla, Irish Mint Crème, Taro and New York Cheesecake as well as those tried-and-true ice cream standards like Coffee, Vanilla and Cookies n’ Cream.
Todd Vaccaro, the owner of this latest LA franchise, says he chose Brentwood because of the family-oriented neighborhood. And not just because it is good for business. He says he and his wife and newborn son would eventually like to move to Brentwood where he hopes his son will one day run the day-to-day operations.
Mr. Vaccaro, a former real estate broker, believes that Yogurtland represents the forefront of a frozen yogurt resurgence that offers consumers a great tasting, healthy choice in a vibrant, welcoming environment. He hopes that his store will become a place for young and old alike to congregate and that parents will see his store as a safe place for their kids to go after school.
He adds that he would be happy to support various local events, like school plays, by allowing advertising posters to adorn his walls.
Mr. Vaccaro says business is doing very well so far and appears to be full of patrons often. The friendly staff and recession friendly prices are helping to engender a repeat customer base.
Long-time Brentwood resident Fernando Lopez says that Yogurtland is so good “it has become a serious addiction. Soon they will have to start a support group.
Unfortunately we will hold the meetings in Yogurtland.â€
This newest LA franchise brings the total number in the Los Angeles area to 24 with a location in the USC Gateway coming soon. The Anaheim, California-based company also has locations in six other U.S. states as well as a handful in Mexico and Japan.
Yogurtland’s slogan is “You Rule†and while the jury may still be out on its acceptance into the community, people appear to enjoy ruling over their yogurt. Yogurtland is located at 11706 San Vicente Blvd. More information can be found at www.yogurt-land.com.
