French painter, Humbert Curcuru lives in the outskirts of Paris, France, but on August 12th, you can enjoy his work on this side of the Atlantic at Upper West Restaurant in Santa Monica when Upper West Restaurant and Art-Vault present “California Scenes By A French Painter.â€
Curcuru attended one of the finest art schools in Paris France, where many of the French Impressionist painters also got their start. He was trained in perspective at the Academie Jullian which involved drawing for days on end, sketching live models as well as the city scenes of Paris. He later traveled to the United States where he studied at Otis Parsons in Los Angeles.
Known for his landscapes, Curcuru says he is inspired by the interesting perspectives and the challenge the location gives him by working out of doors with natural light. A true artist, he never paints from photographs.
Humbert Curcuru’s art continues to evolve and is collected by numerous clients in America as well as France and Europe.
Upper West features romantic dining with succulent entrées such as flatiron steak, Chile Spiced Salmon or pan roasted Barramundi. Wonderful fresh salads are also available like wild arugula boasting of smoked bacon and blue cheese dressing or charred broccoli salad.
Be sure to leave room for fantastic desserts including a double chocolate brownie, brioche bread pudding or a key lime tart.
