Popular Main Street restaurant Rawvolution closed its doors Sunday, with the usual lively south-east corner of Main and Strand eerily void of its usual eclectic buzz.
A notice posted Saturday on Facebook informed fans of the closure:
“Friends! Please join Matt and I on Sunday evening (tomorrow) from 4 to 10pm for one last hurrah, and after 10 years, say a fond farewell to Rawvolution which will close permanently on Monday night. There’ll be great music, cool folks, and of course, fantastic food. Come by and enjoy your favorites one last time… hope to see you!”
Sitting calmly by the window Tuesday evening, raw chef and author Matt Amsden told The Mirror that after 10 years in business, it was time to close the doors on the Main Street space.
Amsden plans to continue the popular Rawvolution “box” of packaged meals via delivery, and hinted that he’ll be searching for a new catering-style kitchen to keep his passion for raw food alive.
He said that the lease, and most fixtures and
fittings have been sold to a new restaurant tenant.
