School’s Out for Summer! Continued from last month…

Molly Wurwand
Windward School ‘12

Q: What are your plans for the fall?
I will be attending Tisch at New York University, more specific plans involve buying a winter wardrobe.

Q: How do you feel now that high school is over?
It feels pretty surreal, I’m not sure it will fully sink in that we won’t be back at Windward next September until we are literally sitting in our college classrooms. Overall though, I feel proud of all of us and very excited to see how this next adventure works out for our whole grade.

Q: What are your plans for the summer?
My friends and I are planning on exploring Los Angeles, going on one of those Sight Seeing Buses, going to Hollywood, just doing all of the “touristy†things that are actually quite cool and worth knowing about before we leave our hometown.

Q: Do you think you’re prepared for college after your experience at Windward?
Yes, even though unlike NYU and most universities, Windward is a very small community, values we’ve learned like independence, communication, and creativity seem to be applicable and helpful anywhere and will hopefully serve us really well.

Q: Do you think where you’re going to college will be different from living in Brentwood?
In the most obvious ways, yes- I will miss being so close to the beach and being able to wear flip-flops in January, but Greenwich Village does seem to have that small community feeling just like Brentwood.

Q: How long have you lived in Brentwood, and will you be sad to leave? Do you plan to move back one day?
My family moved from Marina del Rey to Brentwood and the only thing that could persuade me that it was not the end of the world was the fact that our house was minutes away from Reddi Chick, which was the main selling point to my three-year old self. I am sad to leave, but I’m very excited for a complete change of pace, and yes, I know I will be back in town after college, and my first meal home will be chicken nuggets and fries.

Aly Lawton-Yoder
Archer School for Girls ‘12
Q: What are your plans for the fall?
This fall I am going to the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Q: How do you feel now that high school is over?
Ending high school is very bittersweet. I will greatly miss Archer and my high school years; however, I am very excited for the future and being a badger!

Q: What are your summer plans?
This summer I am going up North to Bass Lake and traveling to Asia. I will be visiting the Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam!

Q: Do you think you feel prepared for college after your experience at Archer?
I feel extremely prepared for college! I’ve seen myself grow and mature as a student at Archer. I know Archer has prepared me with the skills I need to continue my education.

Q: Do you think where you’re going to college will be different from living in Brentwood? How so?
Brentwood is pretty different from Madison, Wisconsin. Brentwood is a very quiet and wealthy neighborhood within a huge cultural hub, whereas Madison is a state capital in the Northern Mid-West. I have to say, both are equally beautiful.

Q: How long have you lived in Brentwood, and how do you feel about leaving.
I’ve lived in Brentwood for four years; ever since I moved from New York. I absolutely love Brentwood and will miss it very much! I plan on moving back to LA and hopefully living in Brentwood.

Note from Teen Talk Columnist Bella Nalle: I want to thank and congratulate all the Seniors of Westside schools, and schools all over the nation, as the kids of today become the adults of the future. We’ll look forward to hearing about our local graduates and their future successes! As for myself, next week I am leaving for my internship. I was lucky enough to be accepted for an internship in Shanghai, China, and will be there for a month reporting to you about what a foreign internship entails!
