A man was shot and wounded at the scene of a traffic collision Tuesday in South Los Angeles and police were searching for the gunman.
Officers heard shots being fired at 1 a.m. in the area of Central Avenue and 28th Street at the scene of a reported collision.
Arriving officers found a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound to one of his shoulders, according to the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Division.
The other driver is suspected of shooting the victim before fleeing, but it wasn’t clear whether the shooting happened before or after the crash.
The victim was taken to a hospital for an injury that was deemed not to be life-threatening, police said.
A search was underway for the gunman.
It was believed the suspect and the victim knew each other and have had issues in the past with one another, police said, but the motive for the shooting was not known.
