There were 165 accidents on Los Angeles freeways between 7 p.m. and midnight during the rainstorm, compared with 54 during the same time frame a week earlier, when it did not rain, authorities said Friday.
None of the accidents on Thursday night was fatal, said CHP Officer Peter Nicholson. Overnight statistics for this morning were not immediately available.
One crash involving an overturned big rig about 1:35 a.m. Friday in Paramount resulted in a fatality, Nicholson aid.
That crash occurred on the westbound Glen Anderson (105) Freeway transition to the northbound Long Beach (710) Freeway in Paramount. The trucker died at the scene.
