Two men got into a fight Thursday aboard a Metro Expo Line train bound for downtown Santa Monica and one slashed the other in the neck and face, causing superficial wounds, authorities said.
Deputies responded about 1:30 p.m. to a report that a man who had possibly been stabbed was aboard a Metro train at the downtown Santa Monica station, which is at the end of the Expo Line, according Ramon Montenegro of the sheriff’s Transit Policing Division.
The found the man, who had superficial wounds to his neck and face. Paramedics took him to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Montenegro said.
The suspect fled the scene on a dark-colored beach cruiser-style bicycle that he apparently had taken aboard the train, Montenegro said.
He did not have a description of the suspect, who witnesses said slashed the victim with a knife or sharp object after the two began arguing.
Santa Monica police were assisting sheriff’s deputies in containing the scene and searching for the suspect, Montenegro said.
