A person was found dead Tuesday in an apartment that was damaged by a fire in the Chinatown area.
Firefighters sent to the 900 block of West College Street about 7:30 a.m. extinguished the flames in about a half hour, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
A person described only as an adult was found dead in the unit that was damaged by the fire, the LAFD reported. Information was not immediately available on the victim’s gender or name.
Another person was treated at the scene for “smoke exposure,” the LAFD reported.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
