CBS Gives Full Season Orders for “Great Indoors” and “Man With a Plan”

CBS has given full-season orders for the two comedies that premiered in October — “The Great Indoors” and  “Man With A Plan.”

CBS ordered six more episodes for both series in addition to the initial 13-episode order. The 19-episode seasons are three less than the traditional 22. Networks have reduced what is considered a full season to allow for more series to air.

“The Great Indoors” is television’s second most-watched new comedy, averaging 8.67 million viewers following “The Big Bang Theory,” television’s most-watched comedy, according to figures from Nielsen.

“The Great Indoors” stars Joel McHale as a renowned outdoors magazine adventure reporter who becomes the desk-bound boss of a group of millennials in what he calls the publication’s “digital daycare division.”

“Man With A Plan” is averaging 6.96 million viewers, retaining 89 percent of the audience of “Kevin Can Wait,” which precedes it.

“Man With A Plan” stars Matt LeBlanc as a contractor who is surprised by what he learns about his three children after beginning to spend more time with them after his wife (Liza Snyder) returns to work.

CBS has given full-season orders for five of its six first-year series, announcing full-season orders for the dramas “Bull” and “MacGyver” and the comedy “Kevin Can Wait” on Oct. 17.

The only CBS first-year series that has not received a full-season order is the medical drama “Pure Genius,” which premiered on Oct. 27.

CBS also announced on Monday that it had ordered three additional episodes of its second-season medical drama “Code Black.”
