Starting Wednesday, residents will have a final chance to have their say on the proposed light rail station connecting Los Angeles International Airport’s planned people mover with the Crenshaw/LAX and Green lines.
The final environmental impact report for the Airport Metro Connector 96th Transit Station near Aviation Boulevard and 96th Street will be released for public review, ahead of the Metro board of directors considering certification of the report on Dec. 1. The report will be available at http://metro.net/laxconnector and at libraries near the proposed project.
“Any feedback or questions you have about this project can be submitted at laxconnector@metro.net,” according to Metro, and via and “an online comment form” at http://www.metro.net/projects/lax-extension/comment-feedback- form/. Feedback may also be made using “the Twitter handle” twitter.com/laxconnector or on the Airport Metro Connector Facebook page at facebook.com/laxconnector, according to Metro.
The station is part of the Crenshaw/LAX line and will link up Metro rail to a planned automated people mover at LAX that is being built by Los Angeles World Airports, the city agency in charge of the airport. There is currently no direct rail connection to LAX.
The proposed station will feature three light rail platforms, a bus plaza, a drop-off area, bicycle hub and a pedestrian plaza. Metro is hoping to complete the Crenshaw/LAX line project in time to begin operating it in 2019.
