An emergency-response drill will be held today at Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, and authorities warned it could cause some delays for people making transit connections even though the exercise will be held away from passenger areas.
The operation, dubbed Exercise Station Guardian 2016, will be held from 8 a.m. to noon and test various agencies’ “response and recovery from an emergency,” according to Metro. The exercise is expected to include local, federal, state and private agencies, along with nonprofit groups.
Metro officials said travelers will not be participating in the drill, and they will be allowed to bypass the exercise area.
“However, the exercise is anticipated to create some delays, so travelers are advised to allow extra time to make transit connections during the exercise,” according to Metro. “Signs will be clearly posted throughout the station, and exercise areas will be clearly marked.”
