The weather will give firefighters in the Santa Clarita area a break this week, although not a big one, a forecaster said today. Residents all over Los Angeles saw smoke blocking most of the sky and raining ash on Saturday.
A Red Flag Warning was cancelled at 10 p.m. Sunday, because the humidity increased and wind decreased, National Weather Service meteorologist Andrew Rorke said.
Firefighting conditions are “not great but they’ve improved,” Rorke said.
The humidity increased Sunday to the 30 percent or slightly above … rising from about 20 percent on Saturday, which is “a big deal when it’s been really low,” he said.
The improved conditions are expected to last all week, Rorke said.
In addition to higher humidity, temperatures and winds will be slightly lower this week than last week, Rorke said.
Conditions will be better, he said, but “not glorious.”
