UCLA will honor its 2015 Athletic Hall of Fame class at halftime of today’s football game against Arizona State at the Rose Bowl.
The members of the class are Annett Buckner Davis (volleyball); Danny Farmer (football/volleyball); Billy Martin (men’s tennis); Paul Nihipali (men’s volleyball); Jan Palchikoff (women’s rowing/swimming and diving); Janice Parks (softball); Eric Valent (baseball) and Richard Washington (men’s basketball).
The group includes six who were members of NCAA championship teams (Buckner Davis, Farmer, Martin, Nihipali, Parks and Washington); three Olympians (Buckner Davis, Palchikoff and Parks), a winner of the Honda Award, annually given to the top female collegiate athlete in each of 12 sports (Parks); two Pacific-10 Conference players of the year (Buckner Davis and Valent) and an NCAA Tournament MVP (Washington).
Brendon Ayanbadejo, a UCLA linebacker from 1996-98 who was a three-time Pro Bowl selection and member of the Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl XLVII championship team, will be the Bruins honorary captain.
UCLA will blue jerseys, gold helmets and pants. The Sun Devils will wear their “Desert Ice” white alternate jersey and debut their “Be The Hammer” helmet and pants.
The gray helmet and pants feature an oversized copper version of the team’s pitchfork logo with black outlines.
The first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive a UCLA camo hat.
Oddsmakers have made the Bruins (4-0) a 12 1/2-13-point favorite. ESPN’s Football Power Index gives UCLA an 88.3 percent chance of defeating the Sun Devils (2-2). The visiting team has won each of the last three games in the series.
