First-round draft choices D’Angelo Russell and Larry Nance Jr. will play for the Los Angeles Lakers team in the Samsung NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, the NBA team announced Thursday.
The team will also include the Lakers’ second-round choice in last week’s NBA draft, Anthony Brown, and five players who played for the Lakers during the 2014-15 season — Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle, Tarik Black, Jabari Brown and Dwight Buycks.
The team also includes forward Will Davis II, a 2014-15 All-Big West Conference first-team selection when he led UC Irvine in scoring and rebounding, helping lead the Anteaters to their first berth in the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament.
The Lakers summer league team will be coached by Laker assistant coach Mark Madsen. It will begin practice Monday at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo and start play in Las Vegas July 10 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The team will then face the Philadelphia 76ers on July 11 and New York Knicks July 13. The tournament portion of summer league play will begin July 15 with all teams guaranteed of playing at least two more games.
All Lakers summer league games will be televised in English on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and NBA TV and in Spanish on Time Warner Cable Deportes.
