The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 16th consecutive day and the 17th time in 18 days, decreasing 1.5 cents to $3.83.
The average price has dropped 18.6 cents over the past 18 days, including 1.5 cents on Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose 19.1 cents during a nine-day streak of increases that immediately preceded the current run of dropping prices.
The average price is 9.5 cents less than one week ago and 32.7 cents lower than one year ago but unchanged from one month ago.
The Orange County average price dropped for the 18th consecutive day, decreasing 2.3 cents to $3.768. It is 12.7 cents less than one week ago, 5.1 cents lower than one month ago and 37.2 cents lower than one year ago.
The Orange County average price has dropped 23.5 cents over the past 18 days, including 1.8 cents on Tuesday. It rose 18.7 cents during a 10-day streak of increases that immediately preceded the current run of dropping prices.
The decreases are the result of improved supply, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
