A 24-year-old man was found dead in a parking garage near USC today, triggering an emergency message from campus police to the Trojan community.
The coroner’s office said it was a suicide, but Los Angeles police would not immediately confirm that.
Los Angeles police officers said the death was at a parking garage at 3540 S. Figueroa St., near the Radisson Hotel.
USC faculty, staff and students were warned to stay away from the garage in an emergency message from the school’s police department at about 8:40 a.m., but USC police would not provide any details about their warning.
The area was crowded with people arriving for the annual L.A. Times Festival of Books.
