“Guardians of the Galaxy,” “The Fault in Our Stars” and “Neighbors” lead the pack of nominees for tonight’s 2015 MTV Movie Awards, which are famed for such quirky categories as Best Kiss and Best Shirtless Moment.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” and “The Fault in Our Stars” are nominated for the top honor of Movie of the Year, along with “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1,” “Gone Girl” and Oscar nominees “American Sniper,” “Boyhood,” “Whiplash” and “Selma.”
Oscar winner “Birdman” didn’t make the cut for the MTV honors.
Bradley Cooper is nominated for Best Male Performance for “American Sniper,” along with Chris Pratt for “Guardians of the Galaxy,” Ansel Elgort for “The Fault in Our Stars,” Miles Teller for “Whiplash” and Channing Tatum for “Foxcatcher.”
Best Female Performance nominees are Jennifer Lawrence for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1,” Emma Stone for “Birdman: Or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance),” Shailene Woodley of “The Fault in Our Stars,” Reese Witherspoon for “Wild” and Scarlett Johansson for “Lucy.”
The awards will be presented at the Nokia Theatre at L.A. Live, in a ceremony hosted by Amy Schumer.
Robert Downey Jr. will receive the MTV Generation Award, Shailene Woodley will be presented with the Trailblazer Award and Kevin Hart will receive the Comedic Genius Award. The show will also feature the premiere of exclusive clips from “Pitch Perfect 2” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”
Fall Out Boy is scheduled to perform during the show. Mark Wahlberg, Cara Delevigne, Nat Wolff, Miles Teller, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Reese Witherspoon, Vin Diesel and Sofia Vergara are among those schedled to be presenters.
