A Los Angeles police officer shot and wounded a woman at Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue this morning, police said.
An investigation was quickly launched, with every available supervisor and officer sent to the scene, said a sergeant at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Station.
The shooting occurred in a lower-level parking area at the Hollywood & Highland Center, and the woman who was shot was transported to a hospital with a leg wound, said Sgt. John Cuenca at the Hollywood Station.
Police did not immediately report what prompted the officer to open fire or if the suspect was armed.
According to broadcast reports, the woman was involved in a fight with another woman and allegedly swinging a bat, then pointed a gun first at a security guard and then at a police officer, prompting an office to fire. There were no reports of injuries involving anyone other than the suspect.
