“Twilight” actor Kiowa Gordon was sued today by his former talent manager, who alleges he is owed money for helping his former client obtain a role in the SundanceTV television series “Red Road.”
Derek Thornsberry filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging fraud and breach of contract. He seeks unspecified damages.
A representative for the 24-year-old Gordon could not be immediately reached.
According to the complaint, Thornsberry accepted Gordon as a client in April 2013 when Gordon was a promising young actor, but with a “troubled past.”
In part as a result of Thornsberry’s “sophisticated advice and counseling,” Gordon won a role as Junior in “Red Road,” the suit states. Their contract called for Gordon to pay Thornsberry 10 percent of his earnings and to reimburse the talent manager for out-of-pocket expenses, according to the lawsuit.
However, Gordon fired Thornsberry while the plaintiff was promoting “Red Road” at this year’s Sundance Film Festival in Utah, the suit states.
The actor has refused to pay any of the commissions owed on his income related to the television series, according to the complaint.
Gordon’s actions show he never intended to pay Thornsberry the money he owed him after the actor obtained his role in “Red Road,” according to the suit.
