The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the sixth time in seven days, decreasing 1 cent to $4.141.
The average price is 4.1 cents less than one week ago but nine-tenths of a cent more than one month ago and 8.5 cents higher than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price rose 10 times in 11 days to its highest amount since May 19 before the current run of decreases began.
The Orange County average price also dropped for the sixth time in seven days, decreasing 1.1 cents to $4.124.
The Orange County average price is 4.3 cents less than one week ago but 2 cents more than one month ago and 8.2 cents higher than one year ago.
The Orange County average price rose 14 times in 15 days before the current run of decreases began.
The dropping pump prices are the result of a sharp decrease in the wholesale price, indicating a sufficient supply, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
