Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt sued a maker of a health product for allegedly using her image to promote the item without her permission, it was reported.
The lawsuit was filed on June 4.
Hewitt sued the Marz Group LLC in Los Angeles Superior Court. She seeks unspecified damages and an injunction stopping the firm from further alleged unauthorized uses of her image.
A representative of the company could not be immediately reached.
The suit states the Marz Group makes and distributes an oral vitamin spray that serves as a weight loss supplement, energy booster and sleep aid.
Despite promises made by the Marz Group in March to stop using a photograph of Hewitt on its website after receiving a letter from the her attorney, a spam email that was subsequently found showing the company continued to use her image in ads with such captions as “As Seen With Jennifer Love Hewitt,” the suit states.
Hewitt, a Texas native, currently lives Pacific Palisades.
