Juveniles Escape From Malibu Probation Camp (UPDATED)

Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s personnel are in the Encinal Canyon area of unincorporated Malibu, assisting the Los Angeles County Probation Dept. in the search for two escaped juveniles.

One of the juveniles was apprehended approximately one hour ago.

The search continues for the second subject.

The subject is described as a male black, 17 years of age, 5’11”, 155 pounds, last seen wearing a gray shirt and green pants.

LASD air and canine resources have been deployed in the search, as well as Search and Rescue members.

UPDATE (10:54 P.M., June 2): According to Lt. Michael Williams of the LASD, the Sheriff’s Dept. deployed air, ground, and canine resources in the search of the remaining outstanding juvenile.  The search was suspended at about 6:15 p.m.

The search indicates that the juvenile more than likely received a ride from the area.

UPDATE (2:02 A.M., June 3): According to authorities, the second juvenile was recaptured . While a search for him was suspended at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, he was discovered by authorities almost three hours later at 9 p.m.

It was not revealed where authorities discovered and recaptured the second youth, but both are back in custody, according to reports.

Law enforcement officials have not released the names of both juveniles, as they are under-age.
