A 28-year-old man was shot to death outside a Hollywood hotel early today, police said.
The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. outside the Las Palmas Hotel in the 1700 block of North Las Palmas Avenue.
Officers on foot patrol on nearby Hollywood Boulevard heard shots and then found the victim unconscious on the sidewalk, said Los Angeles police Detective Steven Katz.
Paramedics determined he had been shot once in the chest, Katz said.
The man was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to police.
His name was withheld pending notification of his kin.
No suspect information was made available. Police did not know the circumstances leading up to the shooting or what motivated it.
