This summer, while most teens were enjoying their summer vacation, going to the beach or attending camp, two local brothers Dane Elkins, 13, and Jaden Elkins, 11, and close friend Attosa Rejaei 13 of Brentwood (who all attend Paul Revere Middle School) were competing in world or national racquetball tournaments and bringing home a lot of shiny bright medals in racquetball.
First up, in Fullerton, California was the 2012 USA National Junior Olympics where Dane Elkins made the USA All-American Team by finishing 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the boys 12 and under mixed doubles, doubles and singles. Jaden Elkins ended up winning the boys 10 and under red division at the Junior Olympics. Attosa Rejaei was Dane’s mixed doubles partner where they both took 2nd place in mixed doubles gold division. Next on deck was the 39th annual WOR World Outdoor Racquetball Championships in Huntington Beach CA where Dane and Jaden both won the gold medal for their age groups in both singles and doubles and Attosa won two separate junior world singles titles.
The victories were Dane’s 5th World Outdoor Junior Championship and Jaden’s 3rd World Outdoor Junior Championship and first two for Attosa.
Attosa and Jaden were also honored this year making the USA Outdoor National Team (WOR) where they finished the season as the number one ranked players in the world for outdoor player’s. Next up is the World Indoor Championships in November where the best racquetball players from several countries around the world come to compete.
