On October 11, Rhonda Fleming Carlson, the legendary actress, will receive the 2008 Caritas Award for her lifetime acheivement on stage and on screen and as a humanitarian and friend of Saint John’s Health Center.
Fleming has been a patron and spokesperson for Saint John’s since the late 1980s and has served on several of its foundation committees. She is also an ambassador for Childhelp USA and supports other philanthropic organizations such as Olive Crest Treatment Centers for Abused Children, ARCS, Pepperdine University, P.A.T.H. and many more.
Fleming starred in more than 40 films with some of the most legendary actors in Hollywood, including Kirk Douglas, Charlton Heston, Bob Hope, Ronald Reagan – just to name a few.
The Caritas Gala, co-hosted by the Irene Dunne Guild and Saint John’s Health Center Foundation, will also honor Foundation Trustee Jerry B. Epstein and his wife Pat. They follow in the steps of other high-profile honorees such as Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, and Anthony Hopkins, for example.
The black tie event will be held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills and the proceeds will benefit vital programs and services at the Health Center.
