The National Women’s Political Caucus (NWPC), Los Angeles Westside, a grassroots organization dedicated to increasing women’s participation in politics, will announce twelve honorees who have made significant contributions to achieving equality for all women through political participation. The announcement will be made Thursday morning to more than 30 NWPC members, friends and supporters at Factor’s Famous Deli in Los Angeles.
Honorees include prominent elected officials, business leaders and creatives who represent the diversity of women in Los Angeles. The list of honorees includes: California State Controller Betty T. Yee, Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl, Ana Guerrero, Chief of Staff to Mayor Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles City Councilwoman Nury Martinez and Elizabeth Gelfand Stearns, producer of the Oscar-winning movieStill Alice.
A keynote speech will be made by Jessica Levinson, an election law expert and Professor at Loyola Law School known for her regular appearances on broadcast news programs.
Honorees will be celebrated at NWPC LA Westside’s 5th Annual Calendar Gala on October 22 at the Mark for Events.
A rigorous selection process was conducted by NWPC’s nine board members to select this year’s honorees. Criteria for honoree designation included impact on the community and dedication to supporting women running for elected office.
