The law firm Carlton, Fields, Jorden, Burt opened its first West Coast office last week, with the partnership of attorneys turning on the lights of its new digs in Century City.

Mark Neubauer, who previously opened the Century City office for Steptoe & Johnson, will lead Carlton Fields’ new operation on Century Park East, it was announced last week.

“We have substantial clients, cases, and transactions in California. So opening an office in Los Angeles is a natural progression of our growth,” Carlton Fields’ president and CEO Gary L. Sasso stated. “Our class action defense practice, in particular, has driven us into California, where many such cases are filed. We anticipate other synergies as well.”

With 10 other offices up and down the East Coast, Carlton Fields has a “national practice in class action defense, high-stakes trial and appellate litigation, business transactions, regulatory representation, white collar defense, and government investigations serving key industries, including insurance, financial services, securities, health care, banking and consumer finance, real estate and commercial finance, construction, technology, and telecommunications.”

According to a statement issued by Carlton Fields, Neubauer’s practice focuses on sophisticated litigation including commercial, securities, antitrust, real estate, employment, and entertainment. The firm added Neubauer has more than 30 years of experience as an attorney and “has successfully tried numerous jury and bench cases in both state and federal courts.”

Also joining the Century City office as a shareholder is attorney Meredith M. Moss, who specializes in employment counseling and complex business litigation matters including employment, unfair competition, intellectual property, Proposition 65 litigation, entertainment, bankruptcy and other commercial disputes.

The Carlton Fields office is located in the Century Plaza Towers, 2029 Century Park East, Suite 2000, Los Angeles, CA 90067. The telephone number of the office is 310.651.2147.

Other offices are located in Atlanta, Hartford, Miami, New York City, Orlando, St. Petersburg, Tallahassee, Tampa, and Washington, D.C.
