Motorists in downtown Los Angeles could run into some traffic delays today due to a planned march billed as part of a national day of protest against police brutality.
The protest, organized by the Stop Mass Incarceration Network, is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at Olympic Boulevard and Broadway, with a march planned at 2:30 p.m. Participants are expected to march north on Broadway, east on Temple Street, south on Judge John Aiso Street and west on First Street, ending with a rally in front of the Los Angeles Police Department headquarters at 100 W. First St.
LAPD officials urged motorists to avoid the area of the march between roughly 2 and 6 p.m.
Organizers said the march is one of more than five dozen planned across the country recognizing October as a “month of resistance to mass incarceration, police terror, repression and the criminalization of a generation.”
