Former Los Angeles Dodgers President and CEO Jamie McCourt won’t become the U.S. ambassador to Belgium after all.
President Donald Trump Wednesday withdrew McCourt’s nomination for the post, and instead nominated her to serve as ambassador to France and Monaco.
No explanation was given for the change. There was no immediate response late Wednesday to a request for comment from the White House.
In 2009, Jamie McCourt founded the investment firm Jamie Enterprises, which primarily invests in high-value real estate, biotechnology ventures and technology startups.
McCourt was an early investor in the peer-to-peer car sharing service ZipCar and the clinical-stage pharmaceutical company Kite Pharma. She is also an investor in a variety of culinary ventures. McCourt is also a member of the boards of trustees of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
She was fired as the Dodgers CEO in 2009 shortly after her separation from Frank McCourt. Their divorce was finalized in 2012.
Like all ambassadorial appointments, McCourt’s nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.
