Oscar-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg and Golden Globe-winning screenwriter Larry Karaszewski are among the newly elected members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Board of Governors, the Academy announced Thursday.
The board includes three members representing each of the Academy’s 17 branches.
Goldberg, who won a supporting-actress Oscar for “Ghost,” will represent the Actors Branch, while Karaszewski, who won a Globe for “The People vs. Larry Flynt,” will represent the Writers Branch.
Other newly elected board members are:
— Mandy Walker, Cinematographers Branch;
— Isis Mussenden, Costume Designers;
— Wynn P. Thomas, Designers;
— Kimberly Peirce, Directors;
— David Linde, Executives;
— Christina Kounelias, Public Relations;
— Thomas R. Sito, Short Films and Feature Animation; and
— Teri E. Dorman, Sound.
Incumbent board members who were re-elected are:
— Lora Kennedy, Casting Directors;
— Kate Amend, Documentary;
— Michael Tronick, Film Editors;
— Kathryn L. Blondell, Makeup Artists and Hairstylists;
— Charles Bernstein, Music; and
— Albert Berger, Producers.
