NBC Releases 2017 Fall Schedule

NBC unveiled its fall prime-time lineup Sunday including an eight-episode series on the Menendez murders and the return of the Emmy-winning comedy “Will & Grace.”

Series not returning include the dramas “The Blacklist: Redemption” and “Emerald City” and the comedy “Powerless,” which all premiered at midseason.

NBC had previously announced that the 2016-17 season would be the last for the drama “Grimm.”

Decisions have not been reached on the fates of the drama “Chicago Justice” and the comedy “Trial & Error,” which both premiered at midseason, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said.

All three of NBC’s series that premiered at the start of the 2016-17 season will return for second seasons, the dramas “This Is Us” and “Timeless” and the comedy “The Good Place.”

“Timeless” will return at midseason, as will “Chicago Med” and “Shades of Blue.”

Two series that premiered at midseason will also return for second seasons during the 2017-18 season, the drama “Taken” and the comedy “Great News.”

Emmy-winner Edie Falco will star as attorney Leslie Abramson in “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders,” whose executive producers include “Law & Order” creator Dick Wolf.

The new military drama “The Brave” will air Mondays at 10 p.m. this fall. It stars Adam Dalton as the head of a special operations squad of highly trained undercover specialists which seeks to save lives of innocent people and complete missions is some of the world’s most dangerous places.

The cast also includes Anne Heche as the deputy director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

NBC announced in January that it would be reviving “Will & Grace,” with all members of the original cast, series creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan and director James Burrows returning.

“Will & Grace” will air at 8 p.m. Thursday, part of NBC’s efforts to create another “Must See TV” programming block, Greenblatt said. The rest of NBC’s Thursday lineup will consist of “Great News,” the critically acclaimed drama “This Is Us” and “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders.”

NBC’s fall prime-time schedule will consist of nine hours of drama, four hours of sports programming, three hours each of alternative series and news magazines, two hours of situation comedies and one hour of reruns of “Saturday Night Live.”
