The Los Angeles Kings will conduct a Halloween costume drive at tonight’s game at Staples Center against the Nashville Predators, which is also Firefighters Appreciation Night.
Donations of new or gently used costumes for children and adults will be accepted from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The donated costumes will be given to children and families staying at the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House and children attending Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times.
“Whether they are trick-or-treating in the Ronald McDonald House or dressing up at camp, your donated costumes will bring smiles to children battling cancer and other serious illnesses and allow their family members to join in the fun,” said Amanda Ellis, the Kings manager of community relations and the Kings Care Foundation, the team’s charitable arm.
The Ronald McDonald Houses give families of ill or injured children a place where they can stay close to their hospitalized child at little or no cost.
Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times offers a variety of residential camping opportunities for childhood cancer patients, their siblings and parents throughout the year.
The Kings are offering a discounted ticket package including a commemorative T-shirt for Firefighters Appreciation Night, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. The package can be purchased online at lakings.com/fire.
The foundation finances equipment and training programs for the department not provided for by the city.
