The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped two-tenths of a cent Friday to $2.839, one day dropping one-tenth of a cent.
The average price is four-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 5.8 cents higher than one month ago but 13.4 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The Orange County average price Friday dropped two-tenths of a cent to $2.821, one-tenth of a cent more than one week ago and 6.3 cents higher than one month ago but 10.2 cents less than one year ago.
“We’re seeing a standstill in gas prices because while there seems to be no local fuel shortage, apparently there isn’t a surplus either,” said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
