A man was critically wounded today by gunfire in the South Los Angeles area and authorities have two men in custody.
The shooting occurred around 1:20 a.m. near the intersection of East 77th Street and South Central Avenue where Los Angeles Police Department officers observed muzzle flash, which led to a short vehicle pursuit.
Officers detained two men, who were transferred into sheriff’s custody when officers determined the shooting occurred in the sheriff’s jurisdiction, unincorporated Florence, said Lt. Dan Holguin of the Sheriff’s Century Station.
One man, believed to be about 34 years old, was found critically wounded in the area and transported to a hospital, Holguin said.
Deputies were investigating to see if the shooting was gang-related.
