Los Angeles police SWAT officers took a man into custody this morning following a standoff in the Highland Park area, authorities said.
The 33-year-old man was transported to a hospital after police used a stun gun to subdue him, said Officer Liliana Preciado of the Los Angeles Police Department’s media relations section.
Officers were requested around 10:15 p.m. Monday to respond to a man with a knife threatening to kill a relative at a residence on Meridian Street near North Avenue 52. Responding officers demanded the suspect exit the residence but he refused and barricaded himself inside of the home, at which time a SWAT team was called, Preciado said.
A stun gun was used to take the suspect into custody, Preciado said. No one other than the suspect was injured.
Police did not immediately say how long the standoff lasted.
