The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today for the 16th consecutive day, decreasing nine-tenths of a cent to $2.879.
The average price has dropped 9.9 cents over the past 16 days, including 1 cent on Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The declines began immediately after the average price rose to its highest amount since Jan. 14.
The average price is 4.3 cents less than one week ago, 2.3 cents lower than one month ago and $1.383 below what it was one year ago.
The streak of dropping prices is the longest since a 24-day streak from Feb. 2-25.
The Orange County average price recorded its largest daily decrease since Feb. 24, dropping 1.3 cents to $2.861. The average price has decreased for 15 consecutive days, dropping 10.3 cents, including 1.1 cents on Wednesday.
The Orange County average price is 5 cents less than one week ago, 1.9 cents lower than one month ago and $1.373 below what it was one year ago.
The streak of dropping prices is the longest since a 25-day streak from Feb. 1-25.
