Landscape workers digging in the backyard of a home in Topanga Canyon uncovered a military-grade ordinance device, the sheriff’s department said Sunday.
Deputies were dispatched at 5:03 p.m. Saturday to the 21300 block of Colina Drive, in response to a “found military ordinance, explosive device” call, according to a report filed at the sheriff’s Malibu-Lost Hills station.
“The informant on the call stated that while digging in the backyard of the residence, his landscape workers uncovered a military-grade ordinance device, which measured approximately 30 inches in length,” according to the statement.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Arson/Explosives team responded and rendered the device safe and took possession of the device. The Arson/Explosive investigator said the device appeared to be inert.
