The LAPD’s West L.A. Station has launched an aggressive effort to collect nonperishable food items for donation.
The LAPD’s West L.A. Station has launched an aggressive effort to collect nonperishable food items for donation.

The West Los Angeles Community Police Station’s goal is simple: to collect as many non-perishable food items for donation to the Greater Los Angeles Food Bank.

With the holiday season fast approaching, so is the spirit of giving. The West L.A. Police Department’s annual food drive, or “Grand Weigh-In,” will take place on Sunday, Nov. 22 from 10 am to 5 pm.  The weigh-in will feature refreshments, music, and photo opportunities. Plus, as an added incentive, several plaques will be awarded to top finalists.

Items To Collect:

  • Canned Meats
  • Canned Fruits
  • Canned Veggies
  • Peanut Butter
  • Canned Meals
  • Boxed Meals
  • Canned Beans
  • Pasta
  • Rice
  • Cereal
  • Infant formula and baby food
  • Personal Hygiene Products – Tooth paste, tooth brushes, deodorant

The West Los Angeles Community Police Stations’ Community Relations Office is reaching out to individuals, businesses, schools, and other organizations to make this a far-reaching collective effort. Host a food drive of your own and collect food at work, school or places of worship. The West L.A. Police Community can also supply you with collection bins and other resources to help make your event a success.

For more information about bringing your collection on the day of the food drive, call 310.444 or visit www.wlafooddrive.com.
