Texas Ranger Yu Darvish and a former personal assistant settled the aide’s lawsuit, which alleged one of the pitcher’s dogs bit him.
A lawyer for plaintiff Alexander Witmer told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Frederick Shaller on Oct. 13 that the case was resolved. No terms were divulged.
Witmer sued May 27. His complaint alleged breach of contract, retaliation and negligence. The suit also named Darvish’s sports agent, Don Nomura; Nomura’s company, KDN Management Inc.; and KDN Vice President Yoshi Hoshino.
Witmer alleged he was fired by Hoshino in October 1014 as a result of the dog bite incident.
Witmer and KDN Management signed an agreement in August 2014 for the plaintiff to be Darvish’s personal assistant with duties that included taking care of the 29-year-old right-handed pitcher’s animals, which included three dogs and three birds, according to the lawsuit.
The next month, while tending to the animals, one of the dogs jumped up and bit Witmer on one cheek and on the right side of his upper lip, his suit stated. He was treated for the injuries at a hospital, according to his court papers.
