A 17-year-old boy was arrested for alleged felony hit-and-run following a collision that critically injured a motorcyclist on the San Diego (405) Freeway, authorities said Wednesday.
The crash — reported at 6:18 a.m. Tuesday — happened on the southbound side at Mulholland Drive, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.
The teen was driving a Ford Fusion that veered across double-yellow lines into the carpool lane and struck the motorcyclist, authorities said. The victim was thrown off the motorcycle and the Ford driver sped away.
Witnesses reported a description and license number of the Ford, and investigators arrested the youth about five hours later, according to the CHP.
Alcohol and drugs were not a factors in the crash, authorities said, and the suspect had a valid license.
The victim was taken to UCLA Medical Center.
