One person was ejected and died after a vehicle crashed into the center divider on the Marina (90) Freeway this morning, temporarily shutting down lanes and an offramp, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The crash on the eastbound 90 Freeway, east of Centinela Avenue, was reported at 12:56 a.m., said CHP Officer Tony Polizzi.
The victim died at the scene. No other information about the victim was immediately available from the CHP. However, a photographer at the scene told City News Service the victim was a man and racing may have played a role in causing the crash.
The accident closed the Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 lanes as well as the Centinela offramp, Polizzi said. A SigAlert was issued by the CHP at 1:05 a.m.
The No. 4 lane and the offramp reopened at 2:30 a.m., Polizzi said. However the other three freeway lanes remained closed
There’s no word yet on when the remaining freeway lanes would reopen, Polizzi added.
