Motorists heading for Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) during nighttime hours may want to plan ahead this week, when a stretch of westbound Century Boulevard is scheduled to be closed for five nights, starting tonight.
Westbound lanes of Century will be closed from Aviation Boulevard to Bellanca Avenue between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. tonight through Friday night. The closure will accommodate construction on the Crenshaw/LAX light rail line.
Crews will be pouring concrete columns for an aerial rail station at Aviation and Century boulevards. Eastbound lanes of Century will be unaffected.
Westbound motorists will be detoured north on Aviation, then west on Arbor Vitae Street and south on Airport Boulevard.
The $2.06 billion, 8.5-mile Crenshaw/LAX line will connect the Green Line and the Expo Line. It is expected to open in 2019.
