A suspect was behind bars Monday in connection with the killing of a transgender woman in East Hollywood, but two other people were still being sought.
Police did not immediately release the name of the suspect arrested in Oct. 2 shooting of Aniya Knee Parker, 47.
Parker was walking in the 600 block of North Kenmore Avenue when three men confronted her and shot her several times after trying to take her purse. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The City Council had offered a $50,000 reward for information leading to Parker’s killer.
Parker was one of three transgender women killed this year in Southern California.
Transgender immigration activist Zoraida Reyes, 29, was strangled June 11 and her body was dumped the following day near a Dairy Queen in Anaheim. A 38-year-old Anaheim man has been charged in the killing.
Another transgender woman was found dead on the front porch of a residence in the 6100 block of South Wilton Place on Oct. 1. She had been robbed and then shot — and LAPD detective Chris Barling said his investigators believed the killing may have been a hate crime. She did not live at the residence where she died.
Anyone with additional information was asked to call detectives at (213) 484-3650.
