A driver was struck and killed by a hit-and-run motorist on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Carson this morning, authorities said.
The crash on the southbound freeway at Wilmington Avenue was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 2:25 a.m., said CHP Officer Jennifer Cassidy.
According to media reports, the driver got out his disabled car when he was struck and killed by the hit-and-run motorist, and reportedly other passing vehicles as well.
Cassidy said a SigAlert was issued at 3:17 a.m. closing all lanes of the southbound freeway, except the car pool lane.
She said the SigAlert should be lifted by 9 a.m.
There was no other immediate information.
