“Big Bang Theory’s” Kaley Cuoco to receive Walk of Fame Star today

Kaley CuocoKaley Cuoco today will receive the 2,532nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where she will be joined by several of her co-stars on “The Big Bang Theory” – Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar – and the show’s co-creator, Chuck Lorre.

The 11:30 am ceremony will be at 6621 Hollywood Blvd., near the star of the late John Ritter, who portrayed her father on the 2002-2005 ABC comedy “8 Simple Rules… for Dating My Teenager Daughter.”

The ceremony comes one day before the first original episode of “The Big Bang Theory” to air on Thursday this prime-time television season. It had been airing on Mondays because of CBS’ commitment to carry “Thursday Night Football.”

Born Nov. 30, 1985, in Camarillo, Cuoco made her debut in the 1992 thriller “Quicksand: No Escape,” playing the daughter of a hard-working architect (Tim Matheson) whose wife (Felicity Huffman) hires a private investigator (Donald Sutherland) to make sure he’s just working late.

Cuoco’s other early credits included a 1994 episode of ABC’s fondly remembered teen drama “My So-Called Life,” playing a younger version of the main character Angela Chase (Claire Danes) in a flashback, and the 1995 film “Virtuosity,” which starred Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.

Cuoco’s portrayal of Cheesecake Factory waitress Penny on “The Big Bang Theory” has brought her People’s Choice, Critics’ Choice and Satellite Awards and four nominations for Teen Choice Awards.

Cuoco’s other television credits include a recurring role on “Charmed,” and guest appearances on “Prison Break,” “Northern Exposure” and “Ladies Man.”

Cuoco also appeared in the made-for-television movies “Growing Up Brady,” “Drew Peterson: Untouchable,” “Crimes of Fashion,” “The Hallow” and the NBC miniseries “10.5.”

Cuoco’s other film credits include “Picture Perfect,” “Can’t Be Heaven,” “Lucky 13” and the 2011 family comedy “Hop.”

Cuoco is also part of the cast of the film comedy “ The Wedding Ringer,” set to be released on Jan. 16.
