The suspect who beat and robbed an 88-year-old man in a Hollywood apartment complex after the victim got off a bus remained at large today and police have released photos and video of the attack.

Video footage showed a crime police said was committed at 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 19, with the suspect at one point pushing the victim against a wall and hurling him to the floor.

The victim – who media reports identified as John Fu – got off a bus at Hollywood Boulevard and Bronson Avenue, police said. From there, the suspect followed him to 5900 Carlos Way, where he confronted him and demanded money, according to the LAPD.

The victim ignored the demand and continued walking, but the suspect again confronted him, this time in the parking lot of an apartment complex, police said.

“As shown in the video, the suspect attempted to block him from walking towards the apartment building, but eventually the victim gets past him,” according to a police statement.

The octogenarian then walked into the building’s elevator room and tried to close the door, but the suspect overpowered him and forced his way inside, police said.

“The suspect can be seen pushing the victim against the wall multiple times, hurling him down to the floor and attempting to take his property,” according to the LAPD.

The suspect then followed the man into the elevator and at that point the man handed over some money, but the suspect wanted more and punched the victim multiple times, police said.

The suspect is described as white or Hispanic, about 25 years old, around 5 feet 8 inches tall and 150 pounds. He wore a gray baseball cap with a red bill, a black T-shirt with white print on the front, floral shorts and black tennis shoes. He also carried a black and white checkered backpack and a white plastic bag, police said.

Anyone with information about the suspect was urged to contact robbery detectives from the LAPD’s Hollywood Station at (213) 972-2933 or (213) 972- 2936. Off-hours calls can be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7 or at Crime Stoppers, (800) 222-TIPS. All tips can be made anonymously.
