An investigation was underway Saturday into the death of a woman who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run vehicle in South Los Angeles, authorities said.
The woman was struck about 9:45 p.m. Friday in the 6300 block of Crenshaw Boulevard, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Susie Padilla said.
The suspect’s vehicle was described as dark blue or black, Padilla said.
The crash was caught on surveillance video that showed the vehicle heading north on Crenshaw.
The woman was in an unmarked crosswalk, police said.
She was not immediately identified by authorities, but loved ones at the scene told NBC4 her name was Diane Dupree Phillips.
The station reported that she was 56 and a grandmother.
