The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Orange County dropped under $4 for the first time since March 12 today, decreasing 1 cent to $3.999.
The Orange County average price has dropped 19 times in the past 20 days, decreasing 16.8 cents over that span, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.5 cents less than one week ago, 13.1 cents lower than one month ago and 7.8 cents below what it was one year ago.
The Los Angeles County average price dropped eight-tenths of a cent today to $4.03, its lowest amount since March 13.
The Los Angeles County average price has also decreased 19 times in 20 days. It is 5.8 cents less than one week ago, 11.3 cents lower than one month ago and 6.3 cents below what it was one year ago.
“Refineries are running at a higher capacity which has added to the overall supply,” said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
